NUPGE launches new Associate Member Program

NUPGE has launched a new program designed to help those who are often overlooked. Contract workers, the self-employed, workers on leave and retirees just to name a few can find themselves on the outside looking in.

Ottawa (May 6, 2009) - The National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) has launched a new program designed to help those who are often overlooked. Contract workers, the self-employed, workers on leave and retirees just to name a few can find themselves on the outside looking in. The Associate Member Program allows people to connect with each other while receiving services and benefits that will help them everyday.

“We wanted to create a program to help people find the resources and benefits that far too many are missing out on because they don’t fit into a“traditional” workplace. The world is changing and these people cannot be forgotten," says national president James Clancy.

In recognition of the current economic climate, Clancy also announced that the membership fee has been waived for the first year. “We’re engaged in a major fight back campaign on the economy because we know the pressures that families are under right now. Every little bit helps.”
