Charlottetown (18 Feb. 2011) - The Prince Edward Island Union of Public Sector Employees (PEIUPSE/NUPGE) has donated $24,000 to local non-profit groups and charitable organizations through its annual PEIUPSE Has a Heart Campaign.
President Shelley Ward says “there are many local non-profit groups that are providing vital services to our communities. The union believes in supporting the broader community and the PEI UPSE Has a Heart campaign is a wonderful vehicle to help make this happen.”
“This year we were able to provide cheques for forty of the groups that made formal presentations to our public relations committee earlier this month. The average donation was $600 and our top award of $1200 went to the Upper Room Soup Kitchen in Charlottetown. We are honoured and pleased to help the community in any way we can and this year’s beneficiaries do great work for Islanders every day,” explained Ward.
A full list of recipients can be found on the PEIUPSE website.
