MGEU holds Facebook rally for mental health services and tax fairness

The goals are simple: Get people to say “yes” to increased government support for mental health care services and “no” to additional corporate tax cuts. And build a tax fairness movement the federal government cannot ignore.

All Together Now Days of Action mental health issues tax fairnessWinnipeg (16 Mar. 2011) - The Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU/NUPGE) is inviting members to join its first-ever Facebook rally in support of the All Together Now! campaign's Days of Action.

The goal is simple: Get people to say “yes” to increased government support for mental health care services and “no” to additional corporate tax cuts.

Tell others that Mental Health Matters

To participate in the action, follow these simple steps:

  • Change your Facebook status for a day - Copy and paste this message in your status: I SAY YES to increased government support for mental health care services and NO to additional corporate tax cuts by the federal government. If you agree, please post this as your status.
  • Replace your current profile image with the Mental Health Matters icon. Here’s how you do it:
    1. Click here for the image
    2. Right click on the image and save it to your computer.
    3. Sign into your Facebook account and go to your personal profile or organizational page.
    4. Hover in the upper-right-hand corner of your current profile picture.
    5. Click "Change picture."
    6. Click "Upload picture."
    7. "Browse" your computer and select the image you just saved.
  • Select the image and your profile picture will be updated.

To finish off, go to the All Together Now! website to write a letter to the Prime Minister and your local Member of Parliament to express your support for tax fairness and improved  public services.
