MGEU Technical Professional Paramedical members provide strong strike mandate

MGEU/NUPGE Technical Professional Paramedical bargaining unit has given their bargaining committee a strong strike mandate.

Winnipeg (21 Mar. 2011) - After ten meetings, in three of the five Regional Health Authorities, the members of the Manitoba General Employees’ Union (MGEU/NUPGE) Technical Professional Paramedical bargaining unit have given their bargaining committee a strong strike mandate.

The bargaining committee will now concentrate on completing the Essential Services Agreements in each region.

In December 2010, the bargaining committee reached an agreement with the employer on various non-monetary issues which included adding some new language and enhancing and clarifying existing articles.

Four additional bargaining sessions have been scheduled with the employer on March 23 and 24 and April 11 and 12 to continue negotiations.

The bargaining committee will continue to work toward a settlement which it can recommend to the members.

Members of the Technical Professional Paramedical Component include a wide range of health care professionals such as paramedics, ultrasound, EKG and lab technologists, pharmacists, speech pathologists, physiotherapists and case coordinators.
