B.C. Pavilion Corporation workers look for strike mandate

Bargaining for BCGEU/NUPGE members have reached an impasse.

Vancouver (17 Dec. 2012) - Members of the B.C. Government and Service Employees' Union (BCGEU/NUPGE) employed by B.C. Pavilion Corporation are not seeing much progress at the bargaining table.

The union has been at the table with the employer for twenty days and are not any closer to reaching a tentative agreement. On December 10, the parties reached an impasse. The parties are just too far apart on many issues to look for assistance of a mediator.

The bargaining committee clearly outlined members’ priorities while remaining open and flexible to negotiating specifics. The committee made it clear that this is not a round of bargaining that would contain any concessions for members.

The bargaining committee will be looking to the membership to provide a strong strike mandate to send a clear message to the employer. BCGEU/NUPGE members are looking for a fair deal, job protection, with no concessions.

All members employed by B.C. Pavilion Corporation are being encouraged to vote to support of their bargaining committee's recommendations.

Meetings to cast a ballot will be held at the YMCA - Royal Bank Room at 733 Beatty Street in Vancouver on:

December 20 from 2:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
December 21 from 11:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
December 26 from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
December 27 from 11:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
