BCGEU issues STRIKE NOTICE for August 7 - direct Government of B.C. members

This will be the second job action this summer in support of proposals for a new contract with the B.C. Government. 

Vancouver (2 Aug. 2012) - The BC Government and General Employees Union (BCGEU/NUPGE) has issued strike notice to the B.C. Labour Relations Board.

The strike will take place on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 during operating hours at the following worksites:

  • Surrey: Ministry of Forests, Lands & Natural Resource Operations, 40 members. 200 - 10428 153rd Street.
  • Kelowna: Ministry of Labour, Agriculture, Health, Environment, 30 members. 1690 Powick Rd.
  • Campbell River: Ministry of Forests, Lands & Natural Resource Operations, 50 members. 370 South Dogwood Street.
  • 100 Mile House: Ministry of Forests, Lands & Natural Resource Operations; Ministry of Transportation & Infrastructure, 60 members. 300 S. Caribou Highway.

This will be the second job action this summer in support of proposals for a new contract with the B.C. Government. On July 3, BCGEU members picketed three Liquor Distribution Branch sites in Vancouver, Victoria and Kamloops.
