MGEU members at Special People in Kildonan ratify agreement

MGEU/NUPGE members negotiated improvements to their wages and several leave provisions.

Winnipeg (23 Feb. 2017) — On February 21, members of the Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU/NUPGE), who work at Special People in Kildonan East (SPIKE), voted to ratify a new 3-year collective agreement. The workers provide community living assistance to people with intellectual disabilities.

Highlights of the agreement include modest wage increases in the first 2 years of the agreement (with wage re-openers in 2018 and 2019), as well as improvements to vacation and family leave, sick leave, and bereavement leave.

The agreement will be finalized and signed shortly, then printed and distributed to members.
