No settlement reached in conciliation talks with Northwoodcare Bedford

NSGEU/NUPGE members to vote on final offer; bargaining committee recommends rejection.

Halifax (18 July 2012) - After six days of bargaining and three days of conciliation with the employer, Northwoodcare Bedford Inc., the committee negotiating on behalf of members of the Nova Scotia Government & General Employees' Union (NSGEU/NUPGE) was unable to reach an agreement.

A final offer package will be mailed to the members shortly so they can make an informed vote. The bargaining committee is recommending rejection of the final offer. Once members have the packages, a bargaining unit information meeting will be scheduled to discuss the union's recommendation, the final offer and the implications of the vote.

If members reject the final offer, the conciliator will submit his report and a 14-day countdown to a strike deadline will begin.

In the meantime, members are encouraged to contact NSGEU/NUPGE with any questions.
