Significant progress made at HSAA bargaining table with Canadian Blood Services

Bargaining continues for HSAA/NUPGE members employed by Canadian Blood Services.

Edmonton (19 June 2012) - The Health Services Association of Alberta (HSAA/NUPGE) bargaining unit for Canadian Blood Services (CBS) reports significant progress being made at the negotiating table.

When bargaining resumed, the bargaining committee received CBS's reply to the last non-monetary proposal. HSAA/NUPGE responded and tabled the union's opening monetary proposals. There have been a number of exchanges since then on issues that remain outstanding.

At the end of a 12 hour bargaining session on June 7, CBS advised it needed more time to consider the union's last proposal to them. This extended to consultations with its principals.

HSAA/NUPGE will be receiving CBS's next proposal electronically in the near future to facilitate a quicker turnaround on the next exchange of proposals and will continue the momentum towards a settlement.
