Dr. James Bagian and HSAA president Elisabeth Ballermann |
Patient safety has received a great deal of attention in recent years,
and tragic events in the province have raised its profile even
further.
Bagian is a former chief flight surgeon with the U.S.'s National
Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). He also served as a
medical consultant for the Space Shuttle Columbia Accident
Investigation Board and was appointed the first director of the
National Centre for Patient Safety.
HSAA president Elisabeth Ballermann says Bagian, a dynamic and
informative speaker, will deal with a variety of important issues,
including "factors that contribute to adverse events and the evolving
systemic approach to eliminating errors." NUPGE
