Job recently transferred from St. Catharines to Hamilton

Welland (25 Oct. 2007) - Terry Wach, a member of Local 211 of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU/NUPGE), was killed in a car accident this week while on her way to work. OPSEU members Margaret Cassibo, Judie Davies, and Patricia McNabb were seriously injured in the crash.

All four worked for the Ministry of Children and Youth Services. The ministry transferred work in their programs from St. Catharines to Hamilton in August, requiring the long commute on the Queen Elizabeth Way. "She hated that drive," her husband, John, told the Welland Tribune.

Besides her husband, Terry is survived by her daughters Debbie, 25, and Casey, 15, and her son Aaron, 12.

A memorial fund at the St. Catharines Provincial Alliance Credit Union has been set up, with the money raised to go to the children's education. For anyone wishing to contribute, the account number is 62971.

A memorial service for Terry will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Wesley United Church, 244 First Ave., Welland. NUPGE
