MGEU negotiators win improvements in pay and benefits
Winnipeg (13 Feb. 2006) - Employees at the Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation (MPI) have voted in favour of accepting the latest contract offer from their employer.
A majority of the 1,000 individuals who cast ballots in the vote said yes to the deal which is retroactive to September 2005 and runs through to September 2008. The deal will mean several important improvements for MPI employees, who are members of the Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU/NUPGE).
Highlights include a 2.5% increase to all points of the pay scale after a 0.6% cost of living adjustment (COLA) has been applied, effective September, 2005. Further 2.5% increases to all points of the pay scale are also included for 2006 and 2007.
There will also be enhancements to the dental plan, the health spending account, maternity leave, northern allowance, family leave, leaves of absence with pay and shift premiums.
The bargaining committee wishes to thank all MPI employees for their input, dedication, and support during the bargaining process. NUPGE
