Winnipeg housing authority members voting this week
Winnipeg (1 May 2007) - Rural members of the Manitoba Housing Authority have voted overwhelmingly in favour of striking if necessary to win a new contract.
The Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU/NUPGE) says a further vote will be taken by Winnipeg members of the authority in the next few days. Once those ballots are counted the results will be posted on the MGEU website.
Further decisions in the dispute will be made after this takes place.
Update (14 May 2007): Following strike votes by both groups, a revised government offer was received and recommended for acceptance by MGEU negotiators. The offer included increases to workers pay, benefits, and special adjustments. NUPGE
