Bert Blundon chosen as secretary-treasurer
St. John's (1 May 2007) - Carol Furlong has been re-elected president of the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE/NUPGE). Bert Blundon has been elected secretary-treasurer.
Reg Anstey, chief returning officer of NAPE's election committee, announced the results on Monday after ballots, cast by members across the province, were counted in St. John's.
It marked the fifth time that all union members in good standing were able to participate directly in elections for the union's two top offices. Furlong was first elected two years ago. It will be Blundon's first term in office.
NAPE represents more than 21,000 workers in the government, health care, education, corrections, food processing, financial, retail, security, finance, and hospitality sectors.
