'New benefits and some basic protections for these vital members.' - Carol Furlong

St. John's (6 May 2007) - The Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE/NUPGE) has signed a first contract with Comfort Home Care, which provides services between Conception Bay North and Clarenville.

“This contract provides some new benefits and some basic protections for these vital members of the health care system," says NAPE president Carol Furlong.

"NAPE is in the process of negotiating first contracts for a significant percentage of the home care workers in Newfoundland and Labrador, with nine secured so far, and nine groups still in negotiations.”

The three-year contract, covering approximately 140 workers, is retroactive to April 1, 2006, and expires March 31, 2009. NUPGE
