Ceremonies planned across Canada for workplace victims

National Day of Mourning is an event observed worldwide every April 28

Ottawa (25 April 2007) - The National Day of Mourning for workers killed and injured on the job will be observed at events across Canada and around the world this Saturday, April 28. NUPGE poster

Below are some of the main events in Canada. Please take time to participate. We must demand that governments enforce existing laws by providing the necessary tools and resources to reduce such unacceptable workplace risks.

The National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) has issued a poster to draw attention to this somber occasion. We are asking our members to download it and use it wherever possible. (In many locations around the world, one minute of silence will be observed at 11:00 a.m.)
