Winnipeg (15 Jan. 2008) - The Manitoba Labour Board has set Jan. 29 to Jan. 31 as the dates for voting by employees at Parklands RHA Facility Support to choose the union they want to represent them.

The choice was narrowed in a first vote in December to the Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU/NUPGE) or the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE). The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) finished third and was eliminated. The board requires a vote of 50% plus one to declare a winner.

"Just like the last vote, employees will be able to cast a ballot at any of the polling stations," the MGEU says in an information bulletin to members. "All votes will be counted once the final polling station has closed."

Anyone with questions can contact the MGEU Resource Centre at 1-866-982-6438. TTY Deaf Access Toll-Free at 1-866-982-6599.

The initial vote was IUOE 196, MGEU 192 and CUPE 151. NUPGE
