Now represents more than 900 lab and x-ray professionals
St. John’s (29 July 2008) - The Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE/NUPGE) has been declared the sole bargaining agent for all lab and x-ray workers with the Labrador-Grenfell Regional Health Authority.
This follows an application by the authority to the provincial labour relations board requesting a single bargaining agent for the workers. Previously, they had been represented by both NAPE and CUPE.
NAPE president Carol Furlong was pleased at the board's decision. “We are happy to welcome these former CUPE members to our union," she said.
NAPE also represents all lab and x-ray workers employed with the Eastern Health Authority and the Western Health Authority. A further decision is still to be made by the Central Health Authority.
NAPE currently represents more than 900 laboratory and x-ray professionals across Newfoundland and Labrador. NUPGE
