Support museum workers

The Canadian Labour Congress is asking the public not to visit the Museum of Civilization and the War Museum in Ottawa-Gatineau until the workers secure a fair collective agreement.

The 420 striking workers, members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada, have been on the picket line for over five weeks fighting for improved conditions for temporary workers andwage parity with other local museum workers who do the same or similar work.

The CLC’s Executive Council, meeting in Ottawa, passed a resolution saying in part that the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation (CMCC) “has blatantly abandoned that responsibility by failing to negotiate a fair collective agreement with its workforce.”

The CLC is also calling upon the government of Canada to force the museum “to negotiate a collective agreement that ends the precarious work practices used by the Corporation.”

Please help these workers achieve a fair and decent collective agreement.
