The National Union Advantage Program (NUAP) is a non-profit trust created for the benefit of everyone affiliated with NUPGE through our member unions. It has two purposes, each based on the principle of strength in numbers:
- Membership services: making a variety of services (such as insurance, credit cards, legal services and mortgages) available at reduced rates and prices.
- Collective purchasing: offering substantial savings to participating components and locals by negotiating the best rates available for equipment, telephones and courier service.
With 340,000 members nationally, and large blocks of members in many provinces, NUAP has the ability to negotiate many advantages for members that reach beyond our collective agreements. Benefits for participating unions
NUAP has also been asked as a non-profit trust to set up national accounts as requested by participating unions to negotiate the best rates available for a variety of services, such as:
- office supplies/equipment
- postal courier service
- long distance telephone
NUAP has been able to reduce the operating costs of NUPGE and participating unions by coordinating the purchase of services and products on a collective basis. This "group purchasing power" has resulted in unions saving tens of thousands of dollars over the past two years.
