Economic fightback

Banks get bailout but workers get nothing?

Lost your job and now Employment Insurance unavailable or not much help?

Watching your hopes of retiring - ever - disappear?

Banks getting bailed-out but you getting dumped on?

Time to fightback!

The National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) is encouraging all Canadians to get involved in the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) economic fightback campaign. To help people to get involved NUPGE has launched this web resource.

"The current economic crisis has left many Canadians feeling hopeless - powerless. We want to provide the resources for them to overcome those feelings and get engaged," says national president James Clancy.

"They are not alone. Working together we can make a real difference. Now's the time to build a strong economy that works for all of us."

This web resource provides links to and information about the CLC campaign.  It also provides a quick and easy way for Canadians to write their member of parliament and the Prime Minister to demand action.

Send your MP a letter and ask for improvements to Employment Insurance, Retirement and Pension Security and demand that support to the banks come with consumer protections.

Sign the National Union's Petition and tell your MP, premier and the prime minister to support NUPGE's 5-point economic plan for workers and families.  For more on NUPGE's 5-point economic plan.

Join with millions of Canadian workers in demanding economic policies that support working people.
