BCGEU members at District of Sechelt reach tentative agreement

BCGEU/NUPGE members will be voting on tentative agreement in the coming days.

Vancouver (15 July 2013) – A tentative agreement has been reached between members of the B.C. Government and Service Employees' Union (BCGEU/NUPGE) and the District of Sechelt. This settlement follows three days of bargaining with the assistance of a mediator.

The highlights of the deal include:

  •  a three-year deal that expires December 31, 2015
  • $1000 pro-rated on straight time hours for current employees in the first year paid within two weeks of ratification
  • wage increase of 1.5 per cent in the second year and 1.75 per cent in the third
  • the nine-day fortnight will be maintained until July 1, 2014 and
  • temporary employees will be recalled.

The deal is subject to ratification. The union will have more information on ratification in the coming days.
