BCGEU members at five community colleges ratify new agreements

Members receive four per cent wage increases over two years, in addition to other improvements.

Vancouver (07 Feb. 2013) – Members of the B.C. Government and Service Employees' Union (BCGEU/NUPGE) working at five difference community colleges in British Columbia have ratified new collective agreements.

BCGEU/NUPGE at Camosun College, Northern Lights College, Northwest Community College, Okanagan College and Selkirk College ratified contracts which were negotiated at both the common and local bargaining tables.

A tentative agreement had been reached in December 2012 after three months of negotiations. The collective agreements includes improvements of an increase of four per cent over two years in the provincial salary scale, an expedited arbitration hearing and mediation process, the joint development of education and employee training (e.g. respectful working environment) and a joint review of bargaining structure and process.

The term of the agreement is for two years, expiring on March 31, 2014.
