Calgary rally Friday against private health care

Labour organizations gathering at 10 a.m. at Health Resource Centre.

Calgary (9 Sept. 2010) - The Health Sciences Association of Alberta (HSAA/NUPGE) is urging members to send a strong message on health care to the Stelmach government this Friday in Calgary.

Members of various labour organizations across the province are gathering at the Health Resource Centre (HRC) in Calgary to tell the government that "Albertans are against private health care!"

HSAA members are encouraged to wear union colours and attend the rally, which begins at 10 a.m. (at the HRC), #110 1402 8th Ave. NW.

The event is being organized by the Friends of Medicare. HSAA says speakers will address the government's ongoing attempts to "resurrect the private health care provider of hip and knee surgeries, which is currently embroiled in bankruptcy proceedings."
