Portage MGEU members serve up spaghetti in support of United Way

The Portage Plains United Way says they have raised close to 30 per cent of their 2017 campaign goal of $232,000.

Portage Plains, Man. (06 Nov. 2017) — A hot meal on a cold day was the perfect way for members of the Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU/NUPGE) to help raise almost $5000 for the Portage Plains United Way.

On November 1, MGEU/NUPGE volunteers served up 540 plates of pasta at the Herman Prior Centre in Portage la Prairie for the annual Spaghetti Lunch.

While the number of meals served was down just slightly from last year (likely due to snow falling on the roads), the event continues to be a significant contributor to the community’s campaign. The Portage Plains United Way says they have raised close to 30 per cent of their 2017 campaign goal of $232,000.
