VON workers in Nova Scotia seek conciliation to reach agreement

Conciliation talks are scheduled for May for NSGEU members employed by VON.

Halifax (26 April 2012) - Negotiations with the Victoria Order of Nurses (VON) havw yet to reach a renewed collective agreement for members of the Nova Scotia Government & General Employees Union (NSGEU/NUPGE). Bargaining commenced in January 2012 with six meeting dates since then and several items still remain unresolved.

Some of the major items which remain on the table are the hours of work, travel time, wages, vacation time and leaves of absence.

The NSGEU/NUPGE has filed for conciliation and meeting dates are scheduled for May 14 and 15.

The union is hopeful that, with the assistance of the conciliation officer, a settlement will be reached.
